BEING

Deep therapeutic work. Personal transformation. Kindness in action.A radically compassionate mental health practice in Bristol and Glastonbury.

Welcome dear being,

Integrative psychoterapeutic counseling combines traditional talk therapy techniques with creative expression through art-making to provide a flexible approach to meet individual needs - it helps individuals of all ages (despite perceived creative skills) gain insights into their thoughts & feelings, untangle lived experiences and access parts of their story in ways that may be otherwise difficult to express verbally. It draws from multiple theories such as humanistic, gestalt, psychodynamic, IFS, and transactional analysis. This is an embodied therapy that privileges expressive forms of communication that encompass mind, body and feeling in a supportive non-judgemental setting.

WHAT WE OFFER

Expressive arts therapy uses movement, drawing, painting, storytelling, roleplay, improvisation, sculpting, music/sound, writing in a holding and safe emotional space to enable individuals experiencing and expressing feelings in an embodied way and and access their unconscious, where trauma is often stored.

This is an alternative path for self-exploration and a way to communicate with the the therapist or facilitator beyond words and the constraints of the rational mind, that repeats patterns of thinking that keep us stuck.

When the client creates art in a session, allowing to be witnessed, she is opening a window to her soul to me as a therapist. I am in awe as we process the strong images of self-expression that help us comprehend her inner world and gather more meaning from each visit.
